Today gomtec conceives and develops need-based power-by-wire mechatronic systems for prestigious medium- and large-sized businesses in various branches of industry. It is also involved in the development of lightweight robots.
gomtec’s roots lie in eStop, a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center’s (DLR) Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics. Integrated into Siemens VDO in 2005, in 2008 the core team formed an independent company, RG Mechatronics GmbH, after the take-over by Continental AG.
Initially the main object of development was the world’s first practical dry brake-by-wire system for the automotive industry. The first prototype of this technology demonstrated the full required performance in 2002. In 2004, the project was honoured with the Hermes Award, the international technology prize of the Hanover trade fair.
