Kinova, a Quebec-based RBR50 company, received on February 25 the prestigious Innovation 2014 Award from the German Paraplegia Foundation for its JACO robotic arm.
This award, which includes a certificate, a sculpture and the amount of ?5,000, was presented by Melanie Huml, Bavaria?s Minister of Health and Care.
In recent years, Export Quebec and Quebec Government Office in Munich have supported Kinova in its international market development efforts.
Introduced in 2009, JACO is a six-axis robotic manipulator arm with a three-finger hand that can be integrated in almost all models and configurations of power wheelchair controls. This very light arm can be controlled intuitively and allows its users to live a more independent life.
Kinova has participated several times in the REHACARE trade fair, which is held every September in Dusseldorf.
This year, Export Quebec will conduct a mission to the REHACARE trade fair in order to support Quebec companies active in the field of rehabilitation.
