Boston Dynamics builds advanced robots with remarkable behavior: mobility, agility, dexterity and speed. The company uses sensor-based controls and computation to unlock the capabilities of complex mechanisms.
They specialize in taking projects from initial concept to proof-of-principle prototyping to build-test-build engineering, to field testing and low-rate production, as well as developing software for human simulation and training
The company is best known for BigDog, a quadruped robot for travel on rough-terrain, developed for the U.S. military with funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). It also offers Atlas, a high mobility humanoid robot; PETMAN, an anthropomorphic robot for testing equipment; RISE, a robot that climbs vertical surfaces; SquishBot, a shape-changing chemical robot that moves through tight space, and many others.
In 2017, the company unveiled its latest robot, Handle, which stands 6.5 feet tall, travels at 9 mp, and jumps 4 feet vertically and has wheels for feet.
