Yamaha Robotics is a segment of Yamaha Motor Company Limited, a manufacturer of motorcycles, marine products such as boats and outboard motors, and other motorized products. Yamaha Motor Company was established in 1955 upon separation from Yamaha Corporation (however Yamaha Corporation is still the largest shareholder with 12.21%, while Toyota Motor Corporation is the 5th largest shareholder with 3.58% of the shares, as of June 30, 2015).
Yamaha recently introduced its Motobot motorcycle-riding humanoid robot that approaches riding operations from a human rider’s standpoint – with no modifications made to the motorcycle itself. The end goal is for Motobot to be capable of racing around a racetrack better than a human rider can.
Motobot also is one of a few robots that can test an autonomous vehicle without endangering a human tester.
