OmnicO is developing a multi-purpose mobile vehicle to support flexible manufacturing.
We offer one part of a system with a mobile omni-directional (OD) autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) with wireless navigation. Current AGV cannot support one-off manufacturing and instantly switch between components that can also be one-off. Our navigation technology allows rapid rerouting of navigation pathways.
The vehicle is fitted with Mecanum wheels to provide instant movement in any direction without changing orientation. Our wheel system has a zero turning radius, and can simultaneously rotate while following a defined path.
Most AGV use Ackermann Steering Mechanisms which are inherently difficult to maneuver. OD movement does not require an open pathway to enter and exit, they just move sideways or any direction with or without orientation. OD vehicles can precision locate in any orientation which allows it to enter a pool of quick change pallets with RFID Tags, automatically drop off a pallet and pickup the next programmed pallet.
The vehicle has a modular space frame construction that allows for ease of resizing and configuration. The modular construction allows for hundreds of attachment locations for quick change pallets, tooling and automation equipment. A 6-plus axis robot on a lift platform can be an easy on-off accessory.
The vehicle can be equipped with a large amount of stored energy which allows continuous operations of high energy consuming equipment between way points and automatically connects to power sources to recharge or directly feed the equipment. We have a vehicle with a walk-on platform where an operator is transported with the payload allowing operations to be performed along the traveled path. These OD vehicles can enter caged-in robotic work cells with precision orientation and locate to, perform, receive or a combination of work between the vehicle and work cell.
OmnicO vehicle is designed around total life cycle costs with open computer architecture and soon to have ROS-I interface system for plug and play components. Replace any components with your own. Our fusion controller can accept any supplier technology as it becomes available. This modular concept also applies to our space frame, wheels, motors and drives.
The frame/chassis can be reconfigured long/short, wide/narrow, high/low or any combination. If you reduce the size of the vehicle the frame tubing can be cut shorter and reassembled. To go larger you need to replace short tubes with longer ones, all the clamps are reusable. Every modular component can be reconfigured or replaced to keep up with current technology as it develops. This eliminates obsolesces and reduces total life cycle cost.
