JIBO is the much-anticipated robot created by Dr. Cynthia Breazeal of the MIT Media Lab, and her team at Jibo, Inc.
JIBO attracted over $1M in the first seven days of it’s highly publicized Indiegogo campaign. The robot is meant to act as a companion and personal assistant which can, for starters, act as a personal photographer with two hi-res cameras that allow JIBO to recognize, track and photograph your family members as well as follow whoever is speaking during a video chat. Like Siri or Nest, advanced artificial intelligence algorithms learn your preferences so that JIBO adapts to your life.
JIBO’s 360-degree microphones and natural language processing allow users to talk to JIBO from anywhere in the room. Interaction with JIBO mimics human interaction as the robot is designed to express and interpret natural social and emotive cues.
JIBO is being released in two versions: a home version for early adopters and a developers version for those who are curious about programming more apps for the bot.
Full public release will be in the Summer of 2016.
