Jibo is scheduled to begin arriving at early adopters’ doorsteps in the March/April 2016 timeframe.

But the Jibo manufacturing process is well underway. Jibo’s manufacturing team recently got back from a trip to China, where they were working with Jibo’s contract manufacturer (CM) on the Jibo EVT (Engineering Validation Test). EVT denotes a stage of development in a manufactured product.

In the video interview above, Kyle Moise, shares how things are going at this stage of the process.

Jibo, of course, was founded by Cynthia Breazeal, who took a leave from the Personal Robots Group at MIT’s Media Lab to work on Jibo.

The tabletop robot, less than a foot tall, is loaded with touch sensors, cameras, speakers, and WiFi connectivity. It’s meant to be an in-home assistant that can respond to voice commands, record videos, play music, update its owners on their calendar for the day, and more.
