MICROMO has launched a new generation of metal brush commutated motors, the FAULHABER 1024 SR series, with a diameter of 10 mm. In combination with a gearhead, its output torque can achieve 300 mNm, twice that of similar products on the market. Thanks to a superior torque/speed ratio (flat slope), this small DC motor can handle varying loads at reduced speed variations, said the company. This allows for the smoothest control and operation. This performance is achieved with very low noise and vibration levels.
A wide range of matching speed and motion controllers, encoders, and gearheads allow for optimal adaption in high-demand applications such as portable devices and optical systems.
The huge improvement in power and torque achieved by the 1024 SR series is based on a redesign of nearly all of the motor’s elements, including a new coil, a new commutation system, and a new magnet. This results in a significantly wider speed range under load, delivering a continuous torque of 1.5 mNm at 7500 rpm and exhibiting an output power above 3W. The voltage can be chosen between 6V and 12V.
Many combinations possible with FAULHABER 1024 SR
A uniquely wide range of combination elements helps to transform the motor’s power into high-end performance, according to MICROMO (a FAULHABER Group company). It can be joined with either a magnetic or an optical encoder when electromagnetic interference has to be excluded. The optional combination with a 12/4 planetary gearhead — the only one of its kind on the market — delivers the highest power output levels available with motors of this class.
Another unique feature of the FAULHABER 1024 SR is the length of the encoder-motor-gearhead combination, which can remain below 51 mm in a 4-stage reduction configuration. The optional zero-backlash spur gearhead eliminates rotating play and grants high accuracy at a competitive price.
The 1024 SR series can extend product lifetimes by integrating spark-suppression circuitry that minimizes the degrading effect on brushes and the collector. The resulting clean commutation signal also enhances the accuracy of motor control.
The FAULHABER 1024 SR motor is ideal for high-demand applications, said MICROMO. Its ability to offer high performance with small dimensions and low weight make it a good choice for all portable devices. Its low vibration levels enable its use in high accuracy applications, such as in optical equipment or high-precision tools.
An optional ball-bearing version makes it also suitable for applications with radial loads. The motor is also available with a second shaft end, in a vacuum, and in an extended temperature range version (-30 to + 125°C).
PDF datasheets and 3D CAD downloads are available.
