Robotdalen, the Swedish innovation cluster, is on a mission to enable commercial success of new ideas and research within robotics and automation. The Robotdalen initiative is currently accepting submissions for the 2013 Robotdalen Innovation Award.
The winners of the international robotics competition will receive hands-on help from the Swedish robotics initiative Robotdalen to further develop and commercialize their innovative robotics ideas. The competition targets innovators with commercially valid robotics solutions; it may be entrepreneurs, researchers, inventors, start-ups, robot developers, graduate or postgraduate students.
“Winning the award was a valuable recognition of our product and is viewed as a label of quality by our customers,” says Tomas Ward, CEO at Bioservo Technologies, winner of the Robotdalen Innovation Award 2012.
Bioservo Technologies was founded by researchers from the Karolinska Institute and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Their SEM Glove combines their experiences about human needs with modern robot technology knowledge, creating an innovative, user-friendly and adaptive robotics assistance for people who need extra help gripping things in their everyday life.
An opportunity for further development
“We are looking for ideas, concepts and solutions with commercial potential and breakthrough technology, which the SEM Glove is a brilliant example of,” says Lennart Karlsson, Internationalization Manager at Robotdalen. We have excellent competence and possibilities in Robotdalen and in Sweden to help develop and commercialize robot solutions in the future.
The winner receives ? 6,000 as well as a possibility of receiving an additional ? 6,000 to further develop the robotics solution in cooperation with Robotdalen. The same goes for second place, who receives ? 4,000, with a possibility of receiving another ? 4,000 for concept development. Third place receives ? 1,000.
The deadline for the Robotdalen Innovation Award is January 13, 2013. The winners will be announced at the Robotdalen event Robotics Innovation Challenge on April 25, 2013.
