RICHMOND, BC, Oct. 29, 2013 /CNW/ – MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (“MDA” or the “Company”) (TSX: MDA), a global communications and information company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract valued at CA$11.3 million with Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) to provide an Unmanned Aerial Surveillance solution. The solution includes the delivery of The Raven-B(R) unmanned aerial vehicles built by AeroVironment, MDA’s full-motion video exploitation tools, training, maintenance, and support services.
MDA, best known for the robotic arms used on the space station and U.S. space shuttles, also provides satellite data and surveillance information and technology. It has some 4,500 employees operating from 11 locations in the United States, Canada and internationally.
